A town for children and young people …

‘Children are a kind of indicator species. If we can build a successful city for children, we will have a successful city for all people,’ says Enrique Peñalosa, former mayor of Bogotá, credited with transforming his city.

Children and young people, particularly those on the margins of communities are some of the least heard voices, yet these are the ones who will inherit what we create. We need to design spaces that both cater for young people, but also include them in the ongoing shaping of the future in a more intentional way. A good start would be dedicated spaces for young people in the town centre.
