I would like to suggest investment in places where neurotypical families and neurodiverse families can play and socialise together. As a parent of two autistic boys and a husband who is in the RAF I find myself increasingly isolated. I belong to a number of mum groups many of which say they don’t know anything about disabilities, and would love our children to play together. However, there are not many places which can keep all of our children entertained. We often have to go to one place for one child then another place for the other.
Surely having places we can all be together will increase acceptance, our mental, physical and emotional health of parents but importantly our children. Physical health has always been very poor within neuro-diverse children.
Many parents such as myself have had to give up careers to care and advocate for our children so friends for us and our children are vital.
