I have been running a local group for people who have been affected by mental illness for the past year and realise how deficient the local environment is for the support and well being of this minority group. We have independently been staying well using creative goals such as having an exhibition. The group is growing and it would seem a good way to bridge the gap between loneliness and hospitalisation in our local community to provide a centre for community and creativity in a central place. The idea would be to have creative workshops and materials within a centre where works could be performed sold or manufactured. This would enhance the living experience of many like myself who are affected by mental health issues. I would like a community that sees the opportunity in the diversity of values and experiences and a community that supports those who are willing to contribute to society- even without the means- this is how our group operates currently.
