Compared to our neighbours of larger towns; MK, Cambridge, Northampton , Bedford seems slightly forgotten, the town centre shopping is now in a very sad state + reflecting national shopping trends, but it seems more noticeable in Bedford that so many shops are shut, and those left are often pretty run down and not of great quality. (Leading people to head to the towns I previously mentioned, or Rushden Lakes)
£25 million sounds like a lot but in reality would not go very far. Bedfords transport issues are well known + investment has been/is in place there, but more could inevitably be done. Bedford is a brilliant place with the Embankment area as a huge asset. I believe that redevelopment of Aspects would be a good use of money, to provide entertainment for local families, + help to attract visitors to our town. A few restaurant choices, bowling, a museum + other attractions, total re-design of the buildings + lanscaping to make the area pleasant, retain free parking would be a start.
