Better, cleaner, safer streets and transport

• Improve traffic flow and reduce congestion on the main A4100/A4034 through the town (from Cradley Heath and Old Hill, through Blackheath towards the link to the M5 at Junction 2) with consideration for a “Red Route”.
• Act on the “Safer Streets” report for Rowley Regis commissioned by the local authority in 2016. To date, no actions have been completed. In summary this recommended a 20mph speed limit on Moor Lane together with build-outs/traffic calming and white-line demarcations for pedestrians as there is no footpath for walkers.
• Perform comprehensive litter collection on streets and open spaces around the town. Some locations are also subject to frequent fly-tipping (e.g. Moor Lane as mentioned above)
• Completion of a ring road around Blackheath town centre and the creation of a bus station (instead of the several bus stopping locations). This could expand on the “Blackheath Traffic Consultation” done in 2013, but never acted on.

  1. In regards to your bus station proposal, Oldbury had a bus station, which was replaced by ‘several bus stopping locations’. So if Oldbury doesn’t need a bus station, what makes you think Rowley Regis does? After all, there are probably only about half a dozen bus services that cover Blackheath town centre.
