Improve pedestrian and cycle routes, so residents and visitors can safely get around the town and access the wonderful trails into the surrounding countryside.
During the COVID crisis, many residents have enjoyed daily exercise on the Cinder Track and other footpaths around the town. In normal times, we have visitors who come to the area to enjoy the coast and countryside on foot or bicycle. Exercise is good for health and wellbeing, and is the best way to access the town centre or business park, reducing car use.
Improve the network of trails by creating a safe access to the Cinder Track on the south side of Larpool Lane; creating a pedestrian access from the top of the Calla Beck trail to the business park/Eskdale School; providing a foot/cycle way from the P&R into town; creating a link path from Calla Beck to New Gardens; improve Esk Valley Way route thro’ Caedmon school; provide bicycle parking in town; produce promotional booklet of off road routes
