Nuneaton town centre now has a surfeit of cafes and eateries in my opinion. The council needs to drastically reduce business rates in order to encourage shop owners not to shut their doors as has happened in recent years. Surely it makes sense for a council to receive many many smaller amounts of rates than a miserly amount of large ones. Also, the main area of the town centre is decidedly down at heel and needs a facelift, bring more of the fantastic parks departments flower and greenery expertise to the centre. Get out the paint pots. Bring more of a French boulevard feel to the place, make people want to own a business here and make people want to come in to town and stay for longer. Less pound shops etc, which give the impression the town is less than affluent and encourages some people to travel farther afield for a more pleasing environment, there is a happy mix of residents in Nuneaton and Bedworth but I feel some are being overlooked.
