I have read suggestions pertaining to creating a café culture in Boston town centre. I love this idea but feel that our climate is not conducive to outdoor relaxing / eating / drinking for more than a few weeks of the year. During our family breaks at Centerparcs, we have enjoyed many social events in covered areas that could not have taken place outdoors. These areas are light , bright, green, warm, airy and to all extents, just like being outdoors on a summer’s day…. but not. These areas also have the added advantage of being no smoking, so you don’t get settled to enjoy ‘a coffee and a cake’, to find yourselves parked adjacent to a cloud of smoke.
I’m sure this would encourage/entice people to the town and could include some of our once planned mosaic projects which seem to have been shelved.
