With more housing developments being built, and elderly population ever increasing; the hospital’s in Norfolk are struggling to cope with the sheer number of people to treat. When they are medically fit for discharge, and simply awaiting for community care packages to have capacity, they are stuck in hospital, bed-blocking for acutely unwell patients. This could be reduced by opening community (or convalescent) hospitals, acting as an intermediary safe place for patients. Or, more GP practices who could help prevent people being atmitted to hospital with early screening.
