Anyone who travels in and around Hereford knows the city is in urgent need of a bypass, ideally a ring road. Every other major town on the A49 has a bypass and it is crucial to our future prosperity. Is Hereford the largest inland place in Europe without a bypass?

Any bypass scheme must involve a bridge over the Wye, either to the East or the West. Why not stop thinking about roads for a while and think about a bridge: where it should go, how big it needs to be, what it will cost and how it will be funded. The road will follow naturally.
