Chesterfield Canal

To bridge the two miles or so ‘gap’ in the canal would be fantastic, opening up a distance towpath walk from Chesterfield all the way to just outside Gainsborough would be brilliant and excellent for people’s health across the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.

  1. The canal provides great opportunities for exercise and open air activities of all kinds. Many people use the canal towpath to walk, run and cycle and local fishermen and women are regulars on the fishing platforms. On summer evenings and at weekends (especially during lockdown) the canal is a favourite place for local families to get out for fresh air and exercise. Continuing the reclamation of the canal can only be good for the extension of these usages.

  2. I would love to see this being fully restored I think it would help people health and to see the beauty of the towns and counties linked together and bring out best of us all and bring out the best in the three counties too for Derbyshire Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire I really hope this van happen too….
