Getting the Chesterfield canal fully restored completes the link of the currently restored section to the Trent Navigation. This would lead to the development of and enhancement of presently derelict or under-used sites to give over forty miles of canal. This would encourage business development, increased recreational activity, an improved linear wildlife corridor and increased opportunities for the tourist industry etc etc. Any additional financial help for this cause would pay back ten-fold and in a relatively short time. It is an aim that really makes sense, especially when the volunteers of the Chesterfield Canal Trust are there to do a lot of the hard work.
