Chesterfield Canal restoration at Stately

I would like to suggest that you consider the restoration of the canal from Hartington at Staveley towards Renishaw. Over the last 35 years the canal has been restored all the way from Chesterfield through to Staveley. This works have been undertaken by the volunteers of Chesterfield Canal Trust and Waterway Recovery group working in partnership with Derbyshire County Council.
Although volunteers continue to work tirelessly on this area some of the works required in this area would be challenging for the most hardend of volunteers.
I therefore request you consider adopting this project for the My Town project. With the restoration being undertaken by professional civil engineers, volunteers could therefore concentrate their efforts on more minor undertakings towards Reishaw and beyond. If successful the length of restored canal in Derbyshire could be increased to eight miles in the near future.
This would improve the Standard of Living to many people in the Staveley area.
