Cinema bowling complex

Better entertainment facilities for children. You have to go to nottingham or derby for the cinema. A entertainment complex with different things would be great. Also get more shops on the high street. Too many charity shops. Encourage a busy market place and local stall holders on a saturday. Better traffic system at the green. Can sometimes take 30mins to just get through longeaton. Local school could be given some money to improve bullying in local schools. Money investing to give a training college that offers apprenticeships for children leaving school. Money to offer a local transport system for the elderly struggling and needing hospital transport. Reinvestment and refurb to local area to attract people to live and shop here…

  1. The old cinema next to the Nat west bank was excellent, had a wonderful sound system. If there was a restaurant in the space below it, you could go for a nice meal before, or after your film. It would be a great evening out. During the day if could be a cafe type thing downstairs and the cinema could screen concerts and the like.
A very under used potential resource.

  2. We have recently moved to Long Eaton and I must say I was surprised that there was no cinema. so yes, a cinema/bowling complex etc. would be a brilliant benefit for the town.

  3. i fully agree with this. In my opinion Long Eaton is fine in the daytime, but the night time life has really gone downhill in the last few years.

This would bring people into the town

  4. Having a little girl i think a cinema bowling complex would be an amasing idea and something i would definitely visit on a regular basis.

  5. Cinema/entertainment complex would be an excellent idea plus more independent retailers on the high street (try reducing rates) would be great, apart from food I shop online because there’s literally nothing in long eaton.

  6. I like the ideas but at the same time I’m not sure if people would travel to Long Eaton to use the cinema/bowling facilities unless it’s better than the ones in town,Long Eaton definitely does have alot going for it the people for one are for the most part a great community to live among and it’ll only get better if these ideas are implemented.

  7. With the high street in decline Long Eaton has had a long period of deteriation. Shop after shop has disappeared and been replaced with discount stores, charity shops and vape shops. The success stories have been the new additions to the hospitality industry, York Chambers, Copper Cogs, 2 Guys Deli, The Real Coffee Cafe etc. There is an appetite and a need for places to socialise. Long Eaton can definitely sustain a bowling alley and a cinema if it is done right. The last attempt at reviving one of the old cinemas failed because they went for quantity over quality, creating three small, low quality screens instead of two decent ones, lessons can be learned from their mistakes. This is a n excellent suggestion for helping to regenerate our town.

  8. I would absolutely love a quality Cinema and Bowling Alley in Long Eaton. Alongside some of the nice food and drink places that have popped up this past couple of years, it would make me much more inclined to stay local for a night out.

  9. Entertainment centre is excellent idea as it would provide all day entertainment. Currently people visit Long Eaton day or night, an entertainment centre would provide a focus for longer visits to the town and be a boost to local independent food outlets that have opened in 2019. Long Eaton needs a focus and strong reasons for longer visits. With more people and companies switching from offices to home working what happens for those who do not have the space or quiet space to do so? Internet kiosks and Internet within the town area generally need better coverage to cater for a new normal. Long Eaton should seize the opportunities that will open up, either adapt or die. The choice is that stark.

  10. Agree with this wholeheartedly. Long Eaton is the third largest settlement in Derbyshire after Derby and Chesterfield — it has a large population which would benefit from an expansion in local food, drink entertainment. Long Eaton is also fairly well-known in the East Midlands (particularly for its furniture and upholstery); combine this with proximity to an array of public and private transport links and a development such as this would draw in trade from a fairly wide area as the town used to do! Having conducted mini-surveys on Long Eaton townsfolk, many would gladly stay for leisure and entertainment but often don’t due to limited choices. The recent openings and success of places such as Copper Cogs and York Chambers have proven that all we need is investment.

  11. I really don’t know long eaton very well but I think this is a good idea re cinema bowling parking etc

    1. Long Eaton needs some local entertainment apart from bars and pubs.
Cinema is greatly missed! Bowling would be great too.
Encourage the markets as everyone loved the market!
MKe money in Long Eaton. Entertainment venues attract people from other areas in turn brings more money in. It also puts up property prices and encourages people to move to our area.
Please sort out the Green! Traffic is rubbish!!

  12. Excellent idea having an entertainment Centre including a cinema and ten pin bowling. Perhaps a food hall.
It could be built on a upper level with parking underneath.
    Providing entertainment for all ages.

    1. Whilst I agree with the need for an entertainment complex. Where would you put it? It will need room for car parking. And I can’t think of anywhere in Long. Eaton You could build it.

    2. Having a cinema and other entertainment / food(restaurants) in one complex would be so great for our community as it would create and bring more investment into Long Eaton which is much needed, this would so wonderful as it would provide entertainment for all ages.

  13. A cinema would make me more likely to have a night out in long Eaton. I used our previous cinema a few times but stopped going because the screen was tiny and the sound indifferent. I travel all theway to the broad way in Nottingham because its staff and program exude the love of film, there is a great bar and great bars and restaurants around the restaurant. A cinema would be better with one really fabulous screen, that blows staying at home and watching sky box office out of the water, rather than two or three mediocre screens. A cinema could be linked into festivals and events with relevant screenings, and could be used to specifically engage specific groups ( e.g. Saturday morning children’s film clubs, dementia friendly screenings). I would be delighted to go to the cinema in Long Eaton and go for a drink afterwards with out having to worry about getting the last train.
A bowling Ally would be great for attracting groups, including families and work colleagues to go together in Long Eaton.

  14. You are absolutely right, the town board should work with Derby Adult and Community Learning on this. Perhaps if the space were provided there could be community lead learning. Or perhaps people could meet up do there crafty hobbies together and share expertise rather that always a formal class.

    1. Internet kiosks and Internet within the town area generally need big improvements. Long Eaton either adapts to the new opportunities opening up with companies switching from office to home working or it dies. The choice is that stark.
