There are some areas of Bedford (in particular, the neighborhoods in between town and the train station) that is just not very pleasant to look at. Every building has cracked walls and paint coming off the stonework. I can see the architecture of these buildings with their great stone pillars and carved stonework; I bet it looked good…. back in the day. Nothing a little fix-up cant deal with. I firmly believe that the state of these streets are what promotes the behavior of the people that hang around in said streets. As a pedestrian, it is awful to walk through with its beer bottles and other rubbish. As a driver, it is awful to drive through with people seemingly unable to look both ways and just walk into the road like they own it. As a commuter/visitor using public transit, it is an awful barrier to trudge through just to get to town.
