I’d like to suggest a new community hydrotherapy pool, which could be part of a larger leisure/cultural development to improve the economic growth of the city. (Alternatively, the refurbishment of the current one, which is over 40 years old.)
Community hydrotherapy provides health and wellbeing improvements for all ages and a wide range of disabilities and conditions. It also gives valuable leisure time for those with learning and physical disabilities, their friends and families, and freedom from isolation. There are 35,000 with disabilities in Peterborough and >4400 registered hydrotherapy users.
All residents could potentially benefit. They, or a loved-one, might have need of the pool at any time. In city where poor health is a problem, this would be an investment. A conservative and robust evaluative SROI analysis calculated the old pool generated £1,525,000 p.a. This would grow.
It’d be an ambitious investment and potentially unique selling point for the city.
