Create a cycle friendly city

Deliver on the Worcester City Masterplan to create a comprehensive system of high quality cycle routes throughout the city (and to the surrounding villages) that prioritises bike movement over motor vehicles.

This needs to include a network of dedicated cycle lanes that are direct, safe, convenient and segregated from traffic and pedestrians, that present a viable alternative to driving. Cycle routes should not just be leisure routes along the river and canal, but fast and direct routes along key routes into the city. Provision should be on ‘whole route’ basis that considers whole journeys into and around the city, not a piecemeal approach. This should involve the redistribution of existing road space where necessary to achieve this. On streets where cyclist and vehicles mix the speed limit should be reduced to 20mph.
This must also include associated infrastructure to further promote cycling, such as signage, secure storage.
