Cruise terminal

Extend Beacon quay to allow up to 2 large cruise ships to birth along side, taking advantage of ships en route to and from Southampton. Ensure all passengers disembark and visit Torquay, Paignton and Brixham Ana spend within the Bay only!

  1. This is absolutely right approach to help regenerate the bay. The UK coastline generally does not have many ‘hard’ ports of call for cruiseships and the few that come to Torbay are limited in terms of time and weather by having to anchor offshore. Typically if we were to have a quay that could take sizeable cruiseships, we would see many more ships calling than we do. This could be a significant new source of tourism for the Bay and would generate additional local employment. It would be good if the harbourmaster or someone similar ‘in the know’ could comment on this in terms of feasibility. It would probably be advantageous if we could provide a design that would give a ship shelter from any adverse sea state.
