Worcester is plagued by the long absence of ambition to attract advanced industry that provides higher salaries and skill sets. Instead, we attract low paying, low skilled, low density employment in warehouses and distribution facilities, whilst neighbouring cities develop highly successful business parks containing aerospace, research, biotechnology and digital industries.
Worcester also suffers from an incomplete road network, containing a single route that all traffic must use to cross the river, which creates system-wide gridlock. We desperately needs a completed ring road, not only to ease congestion, but also to help attract the modern businesses we need.
Both of these requirements are essential in order to support the huge increase in demand for employment as a consequence of the tens of thousands of new houses planned for the area.
The city is desperately in need of independent guidance and funding to revitalise and regenerate the city for future generations.
