Radical upheaval of the traffic through Truro is essential before anything else is considered. The junction between Fairmantle St and Lemon St is an accident waiting to happen, and a nightmare/deathtrap for pedestrians and residents. Pavement is too narrow for safety, and with the road being too narrow to take 2 lanes of traffic, cars and buses mount the pavement to pass each other, and drivers are aggressive to pedestrians who they consider to be in the way. Cheaper parking in town should not be considered at all – it will make congestion worse.
