Economic Diversity Study

Glastonbury is over-reliant on Tourism. The goal of community sustainability is to establish local economies that are economically viable, environmentally sound and socially responsible. Achieving this goal requires participation from all sectors of the community, both to determine community needs and to identify and implement innovative and appropriate solutions. A study to investigate how Glastonbury can develop a wider range of sustainable economic activity and how that could be supported would be a good first step. I do not mean however expensive consultants should be employed but an expert from a not for profit to lead. Useful link

  1. Totally agree to a study. Which could include identifying need for low cost co-working spaces with full fibre connections in the town. Preferably with windows which open & a small outdoor space.

  2. Very sound suggestion. Over-dependence on tourism can create a mainly seasonal economy and can also make places impossible for locals.

  3. This is a fantastic idea and our economy does need to diversify.
More small businesses, tech companies, entertainment and less need to travel to shepton, Street, Bristol and Bath for job opportunities and shopping and services.
