Economic impact of coronavirus

Glastonbury will have a new scenario to address – a different and more urgent economic future for our High Street retailers and hospitality providers – should the Coronavirus impact go throughout our tourist season.
Essential parts of our tourist economy and town’s attraction will be affected; some will go out of business. Many spectator and conference events, cultural organisations and individual creative people will also find their businesses very hard to sustain. Losing Glastonbury Festival will impact on many of these people and their earnings this year.
A revival plan will be needed to stimulate trade and tourism when it is safe to do so. If we can make some significant environmental gains along the way it will be a double win. Overall I imagine things will change.
As a councillor, I take a special interest in tourism and environmental issues and welcome any ideas to support our local economy, jobs and attractions on here, or to me directly [email protected]
