Expanding the town centre

Dudley will soon be on a new tram line and there are plans to completely rebuild the bus station. To capitalise on the improving public transport we need to improve the quality of the public space in the town centre, improving the experience for pedestrians by extending the public realm enhancements that have taken place on Castle Street down the High Street, Stone Street and Priory Street. A more pleasant environment will encourage more shoppers and visitors and make Dudley a better place to live. The businesses in the town centre need a large resident population to support them, so by expanding the core of the town eastwards and redeveloping the land between Duncan Edwards Way and the A459, we can introduce higher density residential development alongside the tram route so that local shops and businesses have more customers on their doorstep and we can reanimate the failing high street.
