Whilst we are lucky to have a couple of children’s centres in town, they’re council run and obviously have to be impartial. A hub area, subsidised, would allow all of the small business selling children’s clothes & items, baby groups, antenatal classes, courses, sling libraries, nappy libraries and other family orientated space to operate without the start up costs associated with renting their own space. One off or regular hires of a designated, family friendly space would allow lots more collaboration between small and emerging businesses and “building the village” that lots of parents feel is lacking in modern society.
