Former beach chalets

The old beach chalets and toilet block behind the premier inn are a perfect project for this funding. They could quickly be converted into small units. These would be ideal for aspiring artists, crafters etc. It would provide opportunities for local residents to sell their crafts. I would suggest no more food kiosks. Make this into something really unique and different for the town. There is nowhere currently that allows start-up aspiring businesses. These units are small and rents could be minimal. In the foreshore plan these are included and with the mock beach hut facades they look perfect for the area and really revitalise it. This is now a prime and busy site with JFC and the premier inn.
Much could be done to improve that area with additional picnic benches, seaside planting schemes and interpretation boards. This is a low cost, low risk scheme that would have real impact and create opportunities for aspiring future business owners.

  1. I too think something should be made of these chalets. They are a real eyesore. Half could be used as craft outlets and the other half put back as chalets for people to prebook and utilise when on holiday.

  2. This is a really good suggestion. Crafting huts would be good too with sessions for children to paint and do pottery mske kites etc
