In a world of online shopping and next day delivery, local high streets are suffering. The government is trying to ease this by cutting business rates for small businesses, however there has been a decline in the quality and quantity of shops in our town center (especially in the frenchgate) in recent years. The main reason that I, and many others, will favour online shopping above the high street is simply the cost that is involved getting there in the first place.
As of today, all day parking on a Saturday can cost up to £6 in the centre of Doncaster, and with the additional rise in bus fares it is now much more cost efficient to shop elsewhere – whether that is online, or even in a different city.
