Working all over the country it was sad to say the least having to explain where Darlington is given its role in history.

Our town is full of history and historical areas / buildings which are hidden or not known about. The links with the railways through the Pease family and Stephenson himself are a disgraceful waste of opportunities which could help the town prosper in the future.

The town has a unique historical identity which can be used and in turn could help what has quickly become a run down town centre. The internet has given it a kicking like any other but high bus fares and parking charges do it no favours either. Costs associated with having a town centre shop have not really taken into account less customers and sales either and put off potentisl new shops.

Focus points for the younger generations would hopefully encourage a new lease of life which could continue to grow as they do.

Thank you for the chance to have a say.
