Historic St John’s Church, Kates Hill

Grade II listed St John’s Church is situated in the most deprived ward of Dudley. With nominal investment it can create an outstanding visitor destination, adding greatly to the tourism economy of the whole town with high level viewing, cafe, enterprise opportunities, nature reserve with land train, training cafe, museum, community facility and yet remain historically intact and amazing. The Peter Conacher organ and unique Whitefriar glass windows add to the unique nature of the building. Arts, enterprise and the whole community can be supported and enhanced. The project is being held back by lack of money and investment in this project would provide both immediate benefit and economic regeneration and cascade into future generations. Restoration and development funds needed, and funds for staff and equipment to ensure the full, exciting potential is achieved. Jobs, pride, excitement, a sense of history, wonderful events, local and international recognition can easily be achieved.

  1. I have family connections on both sides, it’s a beautiful church. To make it worthy and still beautiful for the next generation its needs help. This charity needs some financial help to achieve this, and much more. The plans for this church, as a focal point for all of the community to share, enjoy and celebrate in, needs not only money to succeed for repairs and restoration but to enable them to future proof it as well, for my grandchildren and their children to enjoy too.
