Important restoration

It is important that the canal is restored between Hartington and Renishaw. When I was a young boy I spent a lot of time on the canal towpath in the Killamarsh and Renishaw areas and they were great times.Currently, I walk the path between Chesterfield and Staveley with my wife; we cover the Kiveton Park to Shireoaks areas too.We have seen at first hand the hard work put in by volunteers and the furtherance of the project would give much pleasure to many for generations to come.

  1. It would be great to extend the current canal route as many people use the current towpath for walking and cycling for exercise and getting fresh air – used by the older generation and young families alike. It supports a cafe at Brimington between Staveley and Chesterfield already so shows the usage. Extending to Renishaw (or nearly to Renishaw) could also help businesses in Renishaw.
