Increase Rail Offering

I would absolutely love to see a better developed rail connectivity. Mansfield has a relatively large population and only going to worksop or nottingham isn’t fit for purpose anymore. Ideally would be great if we could get to Lincoln, Sheffield all of the other cities nearby. I believe this would have a positive impact on the job opportunities in the district, and given the deprivation levels in Mansfield – better public transport can only be a positive thing I think.

  1. I think connecting the line to Retford would be relatively straightforward -the infrastructure is there -it just needs dedicated trains. This would then give direct access to London, Manchester, York and beyond. Improving the link to Nottingham would be good -half an hour to go 14 miles is ridiculous (I know there are lots of stops along the way but an occasional non-stopping train Mansfield to Nottingham would be very useful.)

  2. Journey times on Robin Hood line need speeding up with greater direct journey opportunities to places such as Sheffield, Leicester, Derby and Nottingham. Look at Tram-Train to link Mansfield Suburbs to rail network.

  3. It is important that RHL is expanded to Warsop, Edwinstowe, Ollerton, Tuxford & on to Retford.
However £25m wouldn’t cover a project like this & should be the responsibility of Central Govt & Railway companies.

  4. Given Mansfield District have declared a climate emergency, improving rail links would help reduce people driving and reduce harmful emissions. Wouldn’t this link with both National and Local priorities and policies?

  5. I wouldn’t like to see Warsop Parish’s share of the money spent on developing the train station in Warsop. I think we are in need of far more urgent things and the money should be spent on tangible projects that will come into fruition sooner rather than never

  6. Definitely agree there should be more rail links to other areas. This way work access would be much easier as an option not to use the car. This would improve the amount of visitors to the Mansfield area.
