Many people in Scarborough suffer from issues related to ill mental health or have issues with drug abuse and alcoholism. As someone who has dealt with both services I know that the people who work in these sectors are amazing and work hard to deliver for the people who need them. However a clear and chronic lack of funding leads to long delays in appointments and poor availability. This has a dramatic inlay on the ability of services to help people get through their issues and get on their feet. Spending on these services will improve people’s ability to pursue and maintain financial and personal independence and help to maintain a healthy workforce in Scarborough whilst also reducing net costs to the policing budget and others.
