When I say local sport I DO NOT mean football, cricket or rugby. They have their funding or at least enough time to prosper.
I am talking about Basketball,American Football,hockey,netball etc
If you look at places such as Leicester,Surrey,Newcastle,Bristol etc these location have taken the time to invest in grassroots sports all of which have thriving programmes across the board in the sports above attracting fans up the 5000 mark every week.
I am not suggesting all money should be pushed into this.
It generates revenue it builds business relationships and most importantly it gives the youth of Northampton a chance to play and or experience something they may not of necessarily had access to.
Also it cost a fraction of what has been spent on the fiasco that is six fields.
