Link up the existing disjointed cycle paths into the city to create an easy to navigate and safe cycle network, with cycling and pedestrian priority at junctions, and safe enter and exit points where paths do join roads.
Fix paths that abruptly end forcing cyclists onto dangerous and busy roads and discouraging more cautious cyclists from using their bikes at all. Create routes that are as direct as possible rather than forcing cyclists to makes their journey multiples longer than necessary just to stay safe.
Make the pedestrianised sections of the High Street open to cyclists in both directions out of core business hours.
Provide many more places to lock up bikes at convenient points closer to points of interest, for instance right next to the bus station, along the the little used section of pavement currently littered with bollards, and at any point a cycle path or road terminates nears shops of facilities.
