Linking Coastal Pathways

Make more of the Nature Reserve/Sea Wall area. Make the pathways much more accessible for cyclists, prams, wheelchairs – as in a smooth, continuous surface that fits the surroundings. Somehow join that area with the paths on the other side of the estuary – Old Iron Works side – so there’s one long continuous pathway right around, from beach to beach, linking up all the old Iron Works sites again, with plenty of sitting areas to view around the Estuary. Make it gently lit so it’s always accessible for use. Plenty of wildlife, history, what you see around you type information points as you go along. Introduce new plantations along the way that attract even more natural wildlife. With a bit of planning and progressive thinking, the whole Millom to Haverigg coastal area could be a real place of natural beauty not seen anywhere else in the South Cumbria area that will draw people in.
