Towns need progress, we live in the 21st century and we need to invest in the future. However, they also need to keep their unique character and heritage. Allowing beautiful old buildings like the Pavilion to fall in to disrepair is a crime. Towns like Torquay rely largely on tourism and visitors seeing the decay of our heritage, and the state of the town in general, are not left with a great impression.
The town centre needs massive investment in order to return it to the thriving seaside town it used to be. As it is with boarded up shops in town and beggars in the streets it is not exactly inviting to visitors or to locals.
