I moved to Lower Penwortham from Manchester (before that I lived in London for 10 years.) The appeal of living in Lower a Penwortham was its proximity to the town centre via walks alongside the river and through Avenham Park. Since the Tram Bridge and small footbridge has closed this is no longer an easy or enjoyable walk. Avenham Park is the jewel in Preston’s crown and all routes to it from surrounding areas must be enhanced with better paths and tree/shrub/wildflower planting for wildlife to promote the wellbeing of local residents, city workers who lunch in and around the park and visitors to the city. Cycle ways must be improved and maintained to encourage more people to cycle to work and into the city, leaving their vehicles at home and reducing poisonous emissions. Make Preston a greener and eco friendly city and new businesses will want to invest, creative entrepreneurs will move in, culture will blossom and house prices will rise, a win win for all. Preston needs to go green!
