Modern day sports stadium

Develop and build a modern day sports stadium for Barrow Raiders RLFC and Barrow AFC to share amongst other sporting and health clubs, this would attract lots of visitors and tourists to the town and stop the weight of the current 2 stadiums expenses and ensure a better team on the pitches to go up the league tables (70,000 fans watch Super League Rugby games) Wigan and St Helens are just towns made famous by rugby, put Barrow sporting companies on the map and at the same time promote health and well being, active lifestyle, combat mental health, encourage sport, gyms, fitness and create jobs throughout the whole community attracting ladies sport, healthy eating, entertainment and involvement for families and especially engaging children. This is a long term solution for the whole town and surrounding areas.

  1. I agree. This has been talked about on and off for a few years. Both clubs need to think long term – do they really see Craven Park and Holker St being viable in 20 years? The technology of pitch maintenance has improved so much that lots of bigger clubs now share. I went to see Wigan a few times in the premier league and you wouldn’t have known a rugby team also used the pitch.
