The community would benefit from a modernised town centre. Tired and dilapidated buildings/shop fronts look unappealing and deter excited new businesses from investing into the high street.
The market could also be updated to represent the popular new trend in markets that specialise ‘street food’. It would be nice to have the market as a place for socialising, with smaller bars and food vendors housed in one collective building. This could include entertainment space too, for music events and comedy nights.
Whilst I think modernisation is key to make the town centre more successful, I would be opposed to building of larger complexes, like the one recently built in Chorley. I don’t think this is in keeping with the local buildings and the cladding will soon start to look dated.
