A big reason the town centre is dying is the lack of footfall. People aren’t interested in visiting a town like Crewe on a day out if they have to walk over a mile from the station to arrive at the high street. Places like Nantwich, Lincoln, Leeds and Liverpool all have a much closer walk from station to shops. Whether a person was visiting for the day or felt like having a look around during a wait between trains, it would be a lot more visitor friendly and help bring life back into the town.
