Having had a brief Chat with our local MP, Robert Goodwill, I felt it important to raise my suggestion in a bid to help our local community and Scarborough.
I’ve only been resident here for over three years, but have noticed a significant downturn in local businesses moving out of shops. This leaves empty premises all around the centre and outskirts of the town centre. I think it could be useful to help students, young parents, adults and those who have a disability to be offered the premises on a cheaper rental for 6-12 months. This could be negotiated with the Council and local landlords of the empty shops. If the shops were occupied by local entrepreneurs, I am sure it would uplift the town and make visitors feel more welcomed. It would also give a better impression of the town to not only the local community, but those who choose to visit us on holiday etc. I have lots of ideas. Thank you.
