Night economy and transport

(1) Money put into the High Street and surrounding areas to refurbish run down / closed retail units and turn them into independent bars, restaurants, music / arts venues and retail units. Margate can build on the budget promise to waive business rates for a year.

(2) Redevelop the Arlington Square site. The site is the entrance to the town and has the potential to be another local hub, with a mixture of independent shops, cafes and bars.

(3) Improved late night transport links (buses) from smaller towns and villages to the west of Margate (e.g. Westgate, Birchington, Minster, St Nicholas at Wade, Sarre, Cliffsend), to maximise numbers of local residents able to easily access Margate’s enhanced night time economy. Integrate transport links with the Loop to improve access to Margate from all parts of Thanet.
