Truro is a great ‘little city’,but out of town shopping centres are killing the footfall ,and thus it is losing it’s heart. I would like businesses to be able to compete with these Centres by paying less business rates. For a city ,we are very short for choice for fresh bread, fruit and vegetables other than supermarkets . As the populace are encouraged to eat more vegetables ,and to encourage more social interaction to combat loneliness , small friendly local businesses could sell fresh seasonal produce supplied by local farmers rather than transport it miles . This would lessen the carbon footprint . If these stores were encouraged, the city and it’s inhabitants could be a happier and healthier community, and climate change would benefit from less carbon emissions. Keep it smaller and local.
