Boscombe’s heart – the pedestrianised area is run down with too many intimidating beggars and groups of down and outs hanging out at the entrance by the police box. At night very little is open here and this adds to the edgy atmosphere. The shops, market and meat lorry are all low quality. This is all in stark contrast to the revamped Boscombe seafront.
Sovereign Centre – wet weather leisure option, the relocated shops then spilling out onto the empty high street, encouraging some evening trade & O2 could open more as a community focal point. The pedestrian area needs improving with some trees/palms, a couple of new community police officers should be employed to discourage the ASB right in the centre of town – stronger laws on ASB/begging. Move and improve the market into the Royal Arcade. Introduce a dedicated cycle lane thru this pedestrianised area, linking thru to Bournemouth town centre. Better links from the coast to the high street with transport/more trees planted.
