Perception of Crime – Reduce it to help the town

Many people think Boston is unsafe but the police figures show this is not the case. But while people think the town is unsafe, they don’t come in and this affects the shops and restaurants as they then don’t open.

It would be a good idea if both the council and police could fund patrols of police support officers for early evening to manage the anti social behaviour and have a greater impact on the view of the town centre.

This would help with community cohesion as people think it is the migrant population that cause crime but it isn’t and if there were more policing to understand the issues, the perceptions can be rebuffed.

This would create confidence in the town centre, get the people back in the town, and breathing life onto the shops, bars and cafes.
