Having moved to Colchester in the last year, the public transport is shocking. Because of that, a three mike commute can take over 30 minutes in a car, as the roads are jam packed with solid traffic with one person to a car, because public transport is so terrible, infrequent, unreliable and inconvenient.
In addition there are going to be three north Essex ‘garden communities’ built to stop the urban sprawl of developers adding more and more houses and not putting in amenities, and their main problem is transport. They are intending to be greener outlying towns but they need a rapid transport system to those living there can get from home to work.
The public transport desperately needs investing in, and this will in turn help resolve other problems such as the traffic, pollution, isolation, and strain on many services.
