Doncaster needs better facilities to provide services for drug addiction, alcoholism and homelessness. There is a clear issue with homelessness in Doncaster and an obvious correlation between this and addiction which is some cases is leading to many resorting to crime or sex work to feed their addictions. Until these people are given a safe space, free from judgment, to seek help these issues will never be resolved. There needs to be outreach programmes for women who have been forced into sex work, specialised drug rehabilitation that isn’t just substituting an illegal drug for a legal drug, therapy and support for the trauma these people endure and vocational support with occupational therapists to find activities/hobbies/work that would allow them to see a life beyond what they live currently. Instead of using the money to continue with the gentrification of Doncaster, help give the most vulnerable a chance to thrive.
