Before retiring from children’s services in greater Manchester I helped to write and promote a Relationship Manifesto based on a great deal of work done nationally by groups like the relationship alliance and others. All of this work emphasises the crucial importance of quality relationships to all of us at every stage of our lives and seeks to present and promote ways in which we can help everyone enjoy better stronger relationships. This can include relationship education in school and relationship support through family work, children centres, etc right through to targeted help in conflict resolution, neighbour disputes, domestic abuse and child to parent violence. The strategy would also provide a template for assessing new funding proposals to measure their impact on relationships. These have also been used to help schools rewrite their bullying strategies, train relationship champions, etc
