Restoration of the Chesterfield Canal would increase well-being, land values, increase sustainable tourism and create a valuable green space and wildlife corridor. It would bring to life and open up this valuable historical resource for education and pleasure. It would compensate local people for the years of industrial pollution they have suffered from steel industry, deep mining and opencast and the blight from HS2.
Creating a better environment will encourage people to want to live here and in consequence attract further inward investment into the town.
