Hereford sits on the banks of the River Wye – the ancient and historic city touches the banks of the river. There is significant potential to improve the river bank whilst at the same time protecting its ecological integrity. The footpath access is poor in places, the river bank lacks seating, has inadequate public meeting places, poor clear cycle ways, not much appropriate lighting and variable safe and accessible footpaths. A scheme that clearly connects city to river and vise versa would have great economic and environmental benefit for the long term.
