Unlike many cities across the U.K., Worcester boasts a natural element running right through the heart of the city – The River Severn. Yet, this beautiful asset is not used to its full potential. Look at other towns like Stratford Upon Avon, who maximise their river through tourism. Worcester could definitely do the same. The riverbanks of the river Severn that run through the city could provide a range of tourist perspectives such as the city heritage – introduce a heritage trail – what was the river used for? Past and present. River management and environmental concerns encouraging geographical and scientific education. Use the river for boat rides past the cathedral grounds to diglis and so forth. Make further use of the swan sanctuary. – a day out for the family? Encourage localities through market stalls down the river bank. Encourage water sports. Beautiful riverbanks for festivals, picnics and somewhere many people want to spend their time. Creates an inflow of people and money.
